Sign Design for Preserved Properties

Signage Program

We are in the process of creating a roadside signage program for our preservation easement properties. The project will cost approximately $1,000 per sign and we need to order 10 signs to begin the project. We would appreciate any suggestions for possible funding sources. This project will help to educate the public about where preserved properties are located and hopefully inspire other owners of open space and historic resources to preserve their properties as well.   We would like to thank Kim Rubenstein for creating the sign design for us.

LaMott Community Garden in Cheltenham Township

LaMott Community Garden in Cheltenham Township

On a 1.8 acre tract of land in Cheltenham Township, a community group is in the process of trying to preserve a community garden that has been in existence for 80 years.  The LaMott Community Garden (LCG) is an important historic resource for the surrounding African American community known as LaMott, named after abolitionist Lucretia Mott who lived in the area during the Civil War years.  The property, which  is owned by Temple University, is being sold as part of the nearby Tyler School of Art campus.  The LCG is asking Temple to donate the garden to the Neighborhood Gardens Association, which would then allow the LCG to continue to preserve and operate the garden for the benefit of the community.   The Conservancy of Montgomery County is supporting the LCG in their efforts to preserve this important historic open space.  Take a look for yourself when you are in Cheltenham Township and you will see what a wonderful resource it is!  It is located in the 1800 block of Graham Lane.
