70 ACRES PRESERVED WITH CONSERVATION EASEMENTS

This past summer was a busy one for our Conservancy staff as we worked to complete documentation on three conservation easements in Montgomery County. Two easements covering 66 acres of land on two parcels in Upper Hanover Township were donated by Frank and Edith Weisbecker. The property consists of woods and pastures supporting a wide variety of plant and animal species. A portion of the Macoby Creek, a tributary to the Perkiomen Creek, runs through the property. The Weisbeckers raise sheep and board horses on their property

.

In Upper Dublin Township, Mike and Polly Dunn donated a conservation easement on their property, consisting of 4.27 acres. This will preserve an important parcel in a highly developed township with little privately owned open space remaining. The easement area contains a historic house and barn, woods, a small orchard and vineyard trellis, and specimen trees planted by the Dunns throughout the years. The Conservancy worked with Ross Pilling from the Conservation Development Partnership to complete the transaction.

The Conservancy is very grateful to the Weisbeckers and Dunns for their foresight in preserving their lands for future generations to enjoy. We hope that their generosity will inspire other landowners to preserve their open space which will help to preserve the quality of life in Montgomery County.
